Aurora Privacy Policy

Important notice

This privacy policy has not been reviewed by an attorney and is not legal advice. It describes current data practices for the Aurora apps published by GOSYNRGY LLC (GoSynrgy) in plain language.

This policy covers Aurora on Apple platforms and Android (including Aurora for Android TV) as published by GOSYNRGY LLC. It does not cover the separate Aurora Media Center desktop product or website at https://auroramediacenter.com, which has its own privacy policy and account systems.

Overview

This privacy policy describes how Aurora ("the App") handles information when you use our media browser.

The App connects to add-on, metadata, and optional tracking URLs you choose. We do not operate those servers and do not receive your catalog, stream, or watch data on developer-controlled systems.

The App does not create a GOSYNRGY account. Local profiles on your device are not developer-hosted accounts.

Information stored on your device

The App stores the following data locally on your device:

• Add-on manifests, catalog layout, folders, and related preferences
• Optional TMDB API key if you enable TMDB
• Optional Trakt, Simkl, and AniList tokens if you connect those services
• Optional MDBList and PMDB API keys if you enter them
• Profiles and optional PIN lock preference
• Watch progress, watchlist, and watched history
• Playback preferences such as Auto Play, player choice, Skip Segments, and language preferences
• Optional folder cover images you select with the system photo picker
• Optional exported configuration files you create (for example folder layout transfer)
• Temporary cached responses to speed up reloads

Information we do not collect

The App developer does not collect, sell, or use the following:

• Analytics or usage telemetry sent to the App developer
• Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking for advertising
• Crash reports sent to third-party crash services on behalf of the App developer
• Your add-on traffic, stream URLs, or watch history on developer-controlled servers
• Payment card details (optional tip jars, if offered, are processed by the tip provider)

Data sent to add-ons and TMDB

To show catalogs, metadata, streams, and subtitles, the App sends requests directly from your device to the add-on base URLs you install and, if enabled, to TMDB using your API key.

What those servers store and how they use it is governed by their operators. Review each add-on's terms and the TMDB terms before use.

Optional tracking and list services

If you connect Trakt, Simkl, or AniList, the App exchanges OAuth tokens with those services and may send scrobble, list, or library requests that include title identifiers and watch activity you choose to sync.

If you enter an MDBList or PMDB API key, the App sends requests to those services to load lists or metadata you configure.

Tokens and API keys stay on your device until you disconnect the service or delete the App. Those operators control what their servers store. Review their privacy policies before connecting.

Skip Segments

If you enable Skip Segments, the App may request skip markers from api.introdb.app. Those requests can include an IMDb ID and, for series, season and episode numbers.

IntroDB (https://introdb.app) is a third-party service. Its operator controls what that server stores and how it is used.

Playback

When you play a stream in-app, media is fetched from the stream URL provided by your playback add-on. Progress is saved locally so Continue Watching can resume.

If you open a stream in an external player, that player's privacy policy applies.

Photos and configuration transfer

If you set a folder cover, the App uses the system photo picker. The selected image is stored locally for that folder. The App does not upload your photo library to developer servers.

If you export or import configuration (for example folder layout), the file stays under your control. The App does not send that file to the App developer unless you choose a destination you control.

Network security

Most App traffic uses HTTPS when the destination supports it.

On Android TV, if you configure local-network add-ons or pairing over HTTP, those requests may travel in cleartext on your local network. Use trusted networks for local HTTP sources.

PIN lock

If you set a PIN on a profile, the App stores a salted hash of that PIN on your device and prompts for it when switching to that profile.

PIN data stays on your device. It is not transmitted to the App developer or to add-on servers.

Third-party libraries

Depending on platform, the App includes open-source playback and media libraries such as MPVKit, Media3/ExoPlayer, or libmpv. Source and license notices are linked in Settings → About.

Retention and deletion

Local preferences and library data remain on your device until you clear them in the App or delete the App.

Because the App does not host a GOSYNRGY user account, deleting the App removes local App data on that device. It does not delete accounts or data held by third-party services you connected (add-ons, TMDB, Trakt, Simkl, AniList, MDBList, PMDB, IntroDB). Disconnect those services in the App and use each provider's account tools for deletion requests.

Removing an add-on stops new requests to that add-on. It does not delete data already stored by that add-on's operator.

Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Paid status

Test builds, App Store builds, and Google Play builds may be free. A future release may be paid or include optional tips. Payment status does not change this privacy policy's data practices.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy will change when we do.
